The short version
Stake is the largest crypto casino we cover, and on the things that matter most it is solid: no maximum withdrawal amount, a big game library with genuinely provably fair originals, and Canadian dollars by Interac. It suits a Canadian outside Ontario and Alberta who is comfortable holding crypto, or who wants CAD in and out by bank transfer and can live with a three-business-day wait.
It does not suit anyone in Ontario, where Stake’s own terms forbid play, or in Alberta, where Stake is about to open a separately licensed site and has to leave the grey market. The biggest catch is not a number. It is that Stake’s terms make management’s decision on any dispute final, under Curaçao law, and the terms carry no date, so you cannot tell when they last changed.
This page was checked on 9 October 2026. Where we could not verify something we say so rather than fill the gap.
How Stake scores
We publish five separate scores rather than one average, using the thresholds on our how we rate page.
| Area | Score | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Paying out | 7/10 | Stake’s help centre says there is no maximum withdrawal amount, and its terms contain no jackpot instalment clause. It loses points because crypto withdrawals carry a per-coin fee, large withdrawals can be held for manual review with no stated time limit, and CAD bank withdrawals can take up to three business days. |
| Bonus fairness | 8/10 | The welcome offer is rakeback paid as cash, with no wagering and no maximum cashout. It is small, but you can see exactly what it is. Other deposit bonuses carry a wagering multiplier that Stake says “varies depending on your affiliation”, which is why this is not a 9. |
| Games | 9/10 | A very wide catalogue across major studios, Evolution for live dealer, and in-house originals whose results you can verify yourself. |
| Banking | 8/10 | CAD is supported, with Interac e-Transfer for withdrawals and Visa or Mastercard deposits of CAD 5 to 3,000, plus more than 20 cryptocurrencies. Every deposit must be wagered once before you can withdraw, and CAD withdrawals are slow next to crypto. |
| Trust and licence | 6/10 | A named operator and a current Curaçao licence number, and a group now taking regulated licences elsewhere. Against that, Curaçao offers players little recourse, the terms are undated, and clause 13.1 makes management’s dispute decisions final. |
Getting your money out
This is the section to read before you deposit anywhere.
Withdrawal limits
Stake’s help centre says: “There are no restrictions on the maximum withdrawal amount. You can withdraw as much money as you have available in your account.” We found no daily, weekly or monthly cap in the terms either, and no clause allowing a large win to be paid in instalments. That is better than most offshore casinos, several of which reserve the right to drip a big win out over months.
There is one ceiling worth knowing. On Stake’s own original games, each bet has a maximum profit, set per coin. When we checked, the help centre listed a maximum profit of 20 BTC per bet in Bitcoin and 2.5 million in USDT. That limits what a single bet can win. It does not limit what you can withdraw.
How long it takes
- Crypto: Stake states no fixed processing time. Its help centre says larger withdrawals “may require manual processing by our administrators, which can result in a temporary hold”, after which the speed depends on the blockchain.
- CAD by Interac: withdrawals are sent as an Interac e-Transfer from a payment company called Payper Inc. Stake says these take up to three business days, not counting weekends and public holidays, though usually less.
- Back to a card: Stake now pays some currencies back to the Visa or Mastercard you deposited with. For CAD it lists limits of CAD 5 to 3,000, and up to three business days to reach your bank. You can only withdraw to a card you have already deposited with.
Verification (KYC)
Clause 4.8 lets Stake ask for identity documents “at any time” and restrict withdrawals until it is satisfied. In practice the rules differ by currency:
- For CAD, you must verify your email before your first deposit, and complete identity verification before your first withdrawal. Accepted documents are a passport, a national ID card or a driving licence, photographed in colour, not scanned.
- For crypto, verification is at Stake’s discretion. Clause 8.12 reserves the right to run extra checks on any withdrawal.
Our advice is to verify before you need to withdraw. Being asked for documents only after a large win is the most common source of payout disputes at any casino, and doing it early takes that lever away.
Fees and minimums
Each cryptocurrency has its own minimum withdrawal and a withdrawal fee, shown at the bottom of the withdrawal screen. Stake’s help centre table showed, for example, a 1 USDT fee on USDT withdrawals. Clause 8.9 also lets Stake charge a fee on withdrawals “at its discretion”. We saw no fee on Interac withdrawals in Stake’s own material, but your bank may charge.
The wager-once rule
Clauses 8.5 and 8.10 require you to wager 100% of every deposit, fiat or crypto, before you can withdraw it. Deposit CAD 200 and you need CAD 200 of bets before the cashier will release anything. If you deposit and try to withdraw without betting, Stake treats it as “coin mixing” and refuses the withdrawal.

The welcome offer, read properly
Stake does not run a big matched deposit bonus. Its welcome offer is rakeback, unlocked by entering a referral code within 24 hours of opening your account. Our link applies our referral code automatically.
| Term | What Stake’s help centre says |
|---|---|
| Headline | Instant rakeback, normally only available from Bronze VIP level |
| Rate | 3.5% of the house edge on every bet, win or lose |
| Match percentage and maximum | Not applicable. There is no deposit match |
| Wagering | None on rakeback. It is paid as cash you can claim at any time |
| Maximum cashout | None stated |
| Maximum bet | No bonus-related limit, because there is no bonus balance |
| Expiry | Earned rakeback can be claimed at any time. The code must be entered within 24 hours of sign-up |
| Code | Applied automatically through our link |
It helps to see what 3.5% of the house edge is actually worth. Wager CAD 1,000 on a slot with a 96% return to player and the house edge is CAD 40, so your rakeback is CAD 1.40. On a game with a 1% edge, the same CAD 1,000 returns CAD 0.35. Nobody should treat this as a reason to sign up. Its merit is that nothing is hidden: there is no wagering requirement, no maximum cashout and no bet limit to trip over.
Our older review advertised “5% rakeback”. Stake’s current help centre says 3.5% of the house edge, so that is the figure we use. Stake’s other promotions (weekly and monthly bonuses, reloads, races) depend on VIP level and activity. Where a deposit bonus is attached, Stake says the wagering multiplier “varies depending on your affiliation and the bonus type”, and its worked example uses 30 times deposit plus bonus. Check the requirement shown in your account before accepting one.
Banking
Canadian dollars
Stake supports CAD. Deposits go through a third-party payment page where you choose your bank and log in to approve the payment. Withdrawals come back as an Interac e-Transfer from Payper Inc., which you accept through your bank using the security answer Stake emails you. Stake says CAD bank deposits can take up to 24 hours to credit.
Visa and Mastercard deposits in CAD are listed at CAD 5 to 3,000 per transaction. Your bank may block or charge for gambling transactions on a credit card, so a debit card or Interac is usually the smoother route.
Crypto
Stake’s help centre lists withdrawal details for BTC, ETH, LTC, USDT, DOGE, BCH, XRP, EOS, TRX, BNB, USDC, APE, CRO, DAI, LINK, SAND, SHIB, UNI, POL, SOL and TRUMP. Crypto deposits have no maximum. Deposits under $0.01 are not processed automatically.
Your balance is held in the coin you deposited, not converted to dollars. That means you carry the price risk: if Bitcoin falls 10% while it sits in your Stake wallet, so does your balance. Stake can show the balance in a local currency for display, and has a swap feature for moving between coins. If you have no crypto, Stake links to MoonPay and Swapped to buy some, at their rates and fees.
Games
Stake’s casino is one of the broadest we have seen. Its provider directory, in the most recent copy we could read, listed more than 80 studios, including Pragmatic Play, Hacksaw Gaming, Nolimit City, Push Gaming, Play’n GO, NetEnt, Red Tiger, Relax Gaming, Big Time Gaming, ELK Studios, Thunderkick, Games Global, Quickspin, Novomatic and PG Soft. Evolution, the dominant live dealer studio, is in the same directory.
The originals are the distinctive part: Crash, Plinko, Mines, Dice and other games built by Stake itself. They are provably fair, which means each result is generated from a server seed, your own client seed and a counter, and you can check after the event that the result was not changed. Stake’s help centre links to a verification page and to the Crypto Gambling Foundation’s explanation. Bet limits on originals are high, but remember the per-bet maximum profit described above.
Some studios restrict where their games may be shown. When we read Stake’s provider policy in September 2026 it did not list Canada among its NetEnt restrictions, unlike several other casinos we review. Availability can still vary by game and change without notice. Our guide to crypto casinos for Canadians explains why some NetEnt titles disappear for Canadian players elsewhere.
Licence and ownership
Clause 1.1 of the terms names the operator as Medium Rare N.V., registration number 145353, Seru Loraweg 17 B, Curaçao, licensed by the Curaçao Gaming Authority under licence OGL/2024/1451/0918. Payments may be processed by two Cyprus subsidiaries, Medium Rare Limited and MRS Tech Ltd. Trade press reports that Stake launched in 2017 and is owned by the Easygo group.
What that licence is worth to you is limited. Curaçao reformed its system in 2024 and now licenses operators directly, which is an improvement on the old sub-licence model. But it is not comparable to the UK, Malta or Ontario. There is no independent dispute service you can force Stake to use. Under clause 13.1, “the decision of Stake’s management, concerning any use of the Service, or dispute resolution, is final and shall not be open to review or appeal”. Clause 25.1 gives the courts of Curaçao exclusive jurisdiction. For a Canadian with a disputed withdrawal, that is not a practical route.
Two other points. The terms we read carry no “last updated” date, so you cannot tell when a clause changed. And clause 24.1 lets Stake change the agreement “at any time” without notice. We could not confirm the licence number on the Curaçao regulator’s public register, whose certificate links are token-based; we are relying on Stake’s own terms for it.
In fairness to Stake, the group is moving into regulated markets. Trade press reports Stake brands licensed in Denmark, Italy and Mexico, and Stake Canada Ltd has just been licensed in Alberta. Those are separate entities with separate protections. They do not change the terms you accept on stake.com.
Playing from Canada
Ontario: not permitted
Clause 14.3 of Stake’s terms lists “Ontario” as a Prohibited Jurisdiction, named alongside countries such as the United Kingdom and the United States. Persons located in or residing in Ontario “are not permitted [to] make use of the Service”, and clause 14.4 treats using a VPN to get round that as a breach of the terms. A breach gives Stake grounds to close the account and withhold funds.
Ontario runs its own regulated market through iGaming Ontario. AGCO Standard 5.69 requires licensed operators to hold player balances in Canadian dollars, and crypto cannot be accepted, so no crypto casino can be registered there. Stake Canada has applied to Ontario’s regulator, the AGCO. Its general manager told Canadian Gaming Business in September that “we don’t have any indication on timelines in Ontario”. As of 9 October 2026 there is no licensed Stake site for Ontario. We do not list any casino for Ontario visitors. If gambling is causing problems, ConnexOntario is on 1-866-531-2600.
Alberta: a licensed Stake is arriving, and stake.com has to leave
This is the part almost nobody has covered properly. Alberta opened a regulated online market on 13 July 2026, run by the AGLC, with Play Alberta as the province’s own site. Licensed operators settle in CAD and cannot take crypto. Operators that had served Alberta from the grey market were given a transition period with an outer limit of 13 October 2026.
- 24 September 2026: Stake Canada Ltd appeared on the AGLC’s list of registered iGaming operators.
- 6 October 2026: Stake announced it had received its Alberta licence. Trade press describes it as conditional registration.
- 12 October 2026: Stake’s target launch date in Alberta, subject to signing an operating agreement with the Alberta iGaming Corporation. Stake has said it will exit the province’s grey market when it launches.
What that means for an Albertan with a stake.com account: the copy of stake.com’s terms we read, dated 29 September 2026 by the archive, does not name Alberta. But Stake has publicly committed to leaving the Alberta grey market as part of getting licensed, so you should expect stake.com to stop serving Alberta around 13 October and the licensed product to move to stake.ca. Withdraw any balance you hold on stake.com in good time rather than waiting to find out how the switch is handled. We do not list casinos for Alberta visitors. The Alberta Problem Gambling Helpline is 1-866-332-2322.
The stake.ca licensing error
When we loaded stake.ca on 9 October 2026 it still said “Stake is coming to Alberta & Ontario in Canada!” Its FAQ still answers “Is betting on Stake legal in Canada?” with: “Yes, Stake will operate with a Canadian gaming license issued by the Canadian Gaming Association.” The Canadian Gaming Association is an industry trade body. It issues no licences. Alberta’s licence came from the AGLC, and any Ontario licence would come from the AGCO.
Everywhere else in Canada
For the other provinces and territories, Stake’s terms name no restriction, and stake.com accepts Canadian players with CAD and Interac as described above. Offshore casinos sit in a legal grey area in most provinces: provincial lottery corporations hold the licensed monopoly, and the offshore operator is not licensed by them. You are relying on Stake’s Curaçao licence, not Canadian consumer protection. Our Canada page covers this in more detail.
Go to Stake if you are outside Ontario and Alberta.
Other countries
- Restricted list: clause 14.3 names Afghanistan, Argentina, Austria, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Cayman Islands, Colombia, Croatia, Cuba, Curaçao, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Iran, Iraq, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Liberia, Libya, Lithuania, Malta, Mexico, Netherlands, North Korea, Ontario, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Serbia, Slovakia, South Africa, South Sudan, Spain, Sudan, Syria, Sweden, the United Kingdom, the United States and Zimbabwe. Several of those, such as Denmark, Italy and Mexico, are markets where Stake runs separately licensed local sites.
- New Zealand: not on Stake’s restricted list today. New Zealand prohibits unlicensed offshore operators from serving New Zealanders from 1 December 2026, so expect that to change.
- United Kingdom: prohibited in Stake’s own terms. Stake.com is not licensed by the UK Gambling Commission and GAMSTOP does not cover it.
Questions people ask about Stake
Is Stake legal in Canada?
Stake.com accepts Canadians outside Ontario under a Curaçao licence, which is not a Canadian licence. Ontario is barred by clause 14.3 of Stake’s own terms. In Alberta, Stake Canada Ltd was licensed by the AGLC in October 2026, and that licensed product is due to launch on stake.ca, not stake.com.
When is Stake launching in Ontario?
There is no date. Stake Canada has an application with the AGCO, and its general manager said in September 2026 that there was no indication of timelines. Stake.ca still says “coming soon” for Ontario.
Does Stake accept Interac?
Yes, for CAD. Withdrawals are paid as an Interac e-Transfer from Payper Inc. and take up to three business days. Deposits go through a third-party page where you log in to your bank.
What is Stake’s withdrawal limit?
Stake’s help centre says there is no maximum withdrawal amount. Minimums and fees vary by coin and are shown on the withdrawal screen. Large withdrawals may be held for manual review.
Does Stake require KYC?
For CAD, yes: identity verification is required before your first withdrawal. For crypto, Stake can ask for documents at any time under clause 4.8. Verify early to avoid delays on a big win.
Does Stake support Canadian dollars?
Yes. CAD deposits and withdrawals run through a third-party bank payment service, with card deposits of CAD 5 to 3,000. Crypto balances stay in crypto.
Can I use a VPN on Stake from Ontario?
No. Clause 14.4 says manipulating your location with a VPN breaches the terms, which gives Stake grounds to close the account and keep the funds.
What happens to my stake.com account if I live in Alberta?
Stake has said it will leave Alberta’s grey market when its licensed site launches, targeted for 12 October 2026, with the province’s deadline on 13 October. Withdraw your stake.com balance before then rather than relying on a migration.
Is Stake’s welcome bonus worth it?
It is rakeback of 3.5% of the house edge, with no wagering. It is honest but small: about CAD 1.40 back per CAD 1,000 wagered on a typical slot.
